Why Celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week?

Teachers play a critical role in educating and shaping our children: the future leaders of our country. Teachers are kind, patient, hard-working, dedicated and understanding professionals who mold our children’s lives in a positive direction. We entrust our children with teachers, and teachers affect children's lives on a daily basis. Frog Street, ChildCare Education Institute, Educational Products, Inc., and Really Good Stuff want to recognize and honor these amazing teachers who make a difference every day!

Political and educational leaders began discussions for a day to honor teachers in 1944. In 1953, Eleanor Roosevelt persuaded the 81st Congress to proclaim National Teachers’ Day. Congress declared March 7, 1980, as National Teacher Day. The National Education Association continued to observe Teacher Day on the first Tuesday in March until 1985 when the National PTA established Teacher Appreciation Week as the first full week of May. The NEA Representative Assembly then voted to make the Tuesday of that week National Teacher Day.

How to Participate?

Submit the photo and complete the form on this page for you or the teacher you are nominating between 12:00 a.m. EDT Monday, April 9 and 11:59 p.m. EDT Sunday, April 29, 2018. Three lucky teachers will win the grand prizes of $600 for 1st place, $300 for 2nd place, and $150 for 3rd place based on the most votes of their Photo and Profile submitted. Random daily winners will also be selected from participants to receive over $2,300 in prizes to include (10) $25 Amazon eGift Cards, $100 Discount School Supply gift certificate, Frog Street SPLASH Conference registration ($399 value), $100 Really Good Stuff gift certificate, $99 Individual Annual Training Subscriptions from ChildCare Education Institute, $75 Educational Products, Inc. gift certificate, and MORE! How to Nominate a Teacher?

To be officially recognized as a Teachers Make a Difference Every Day participant, self-nominees or those nominating a teacher must complete the registration form to the right.  Please note that teachers or caregivers must work in a school, child care center, Head Start or other regulated program that teaches or cares for children.

How are the Winning Teachers Selected?

The top 3 Teachers with the most votes of their photo and profile submitted will be selected to be the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prize recipients from all Teacher nominations submitted. The winners will be announced by 5 p.m. EDT on Friday, May 11, 2018 on the social media pages of the sponsoring companies, Frog Street, ChildCare Education Institute, Educational Products, Inc., and Really Good Stuff. Winners will also be contacted via email.
